There is a rise in sustainable fashion with vintage, secondhand and rental clothing platforms given more appreciation and brands trying to become eco-conscious. To acknowledge this healthy trend, H&M collaborated with Central Saint Martins (CSM) to launch Sustainable Fashion & Journalism Awards. This is to highlight the contributions of young people making names in a circular fashion. 2022 winners were recently revealed. The fashion journalism award went to Ella Dewberry for Plexa, an augmented reality platform exploring ethics and sustainability issues in fashion. BA students Daniel Fabara, Ciaran Griffiths, and Max Brewer were given prizes for Fashion Design. Fabara used deadstock, charity garments, and regenerative materials for his men’s collection ANAKULL. Similarly, for their Angels collection, Brewer used up-cycled lenses for headpieces. Griffiths, on the other hand, presented a creative collection inspired by queer culture. All of these ideas helped them win the award. In addition to earning grants, winners are also set to launch their works at H&M’s Oxford Circus store throughout August and September.
