Ganni has collaborated with Pyratex to introduce its new tracksuits made up of bananas. This is a part of the company’s Fabrics of the Future initiative. The banana waste element is called Pyratex Element 2 and is made from the leftover stalk of the banana tree heavily pruned after the collection of its fruit. It is softened and blended with organic cotton to achieve the final results. The move is aimed at combating carbon emissions produced by banana farms. The fabric is, at the moment, limited to three-piece tracksuits, but will soon be used in other collections. Although Pyratex Element 2 is too costly to be adopted by other brands immediately, Ganni has established an example of moving towards sustainable fashion.
