As consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious, so are brands. Discussed here are five companies geared towards sustainability. The first is Vilvah, which uses aluminium and glass packaging that can be recycled a number of times. Recyclable paper is used for invoices, and goat milk is used for special shampoos and handmade soaps. Second is The Burlap People, which uses burlap, a heavy-duty fabric made out of natural fibres including cotton, jute, metal, etc., as a substitute for animal leather. Coconut leather and wax canvases are also used for experimentation. The bags are made of composted, upcycled or recycled materials. Ylem, the next brand, launched a vegan footwear collection called “Hejje” and also makes eggware in small batches of 20–50 pieces to support the circular economy. Sweet Root recycles old clothing to make warm and beautiful quilts, which help people preserve memories. Finally, furniture brand, Su Kham, uses jute to curate home decor items such as stools, pouffes, cushions, and rugs and doesn’t support the use of polyester.
