Barbiecore, a chic aesthetic that includes hot-pink attire, is more than just a trend as Gen Z and Millennials are adopting it to make a statement on the world that is mainly focused on breaking stereotypes and promoting diversity. Imani Fahrah, an African-American fashionista, went on donning a short pink dress, which symbolised that ‘Barbie is diverse now’, thereby making a statement on diversity. With the help of this trend, Gen Z and Millennials get to challenge stereotypes and to celebrate LQBTQA. Most of the people who are adopting pink hues and loud colours are implicitly saying that global politics, diversity, and feminism are all intervened. Icons such as Lil Nas X and Anne Hathaway have embraced this trend which gained momentum in 2020. Another coincidence is the Greta Gerwig-directed upcoming movie ‘Barbie’. Barbiecore is challenging homophobic and antifeminist agendas that are furthering the Barbie’s definition beyond a specific gender and race.
