Hermès has filed a trademark application to secure NFTs, cryptocurrencies, and the metaverse. This comes months after the fashion brand accused MetaBirkins of ripping off Hermès’ famous Birkins bag by adding “meta” to the name. The lawsuit has compelled Hermes to file for product protection. The trademark covers downloadable software to view, store, and manage virtual goods and digital collectibles. The other major events in the metaverse include the appearance of luxury brands Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, Tommy Hilfiger, Estée Lauder, and Elie Saab at Metaverse Fashion Week. Recent news reveals that major brands like Nike, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Adidas, and Tiffany & Co. have amassed $260 million in sales through NFTs.
