Supermodel Karlie Kloss has entered metaverse in collaboration with Roblox games to create five pop-up shops appearing from 12 July to 25 July. Numerous items, six of which are going to be free, will be featured to be shopped by gamers including Rei Kawakubo-esque dress-cocoon and floating crown. The price will range from 50 to 100 Robux, which amounts to a single real-life dollar. Kloss believes that game designers and fashion designers are quite similar except for the fact that the former sew while the latter code. She studied Roblox for a year and collaborated with game designer Samuel Jordan to walk the Miami streets for inspiration for the project, trying to inculcate elements that will appeal to Gen Z. The fashion pieces for her “Fashion Klossette Designer Showcase” include Western wear, a Miami art deco shop, cyberpunk, “futuristic gothic” attire, and a line inspired by Rococo architecture. Since metaverse has gained popularity, musicians Lil Nas X and Charli XC have similarly hosted a virtual concert, and brands like Gucci, Nike, and Vans have coded gear for the platform.
