Louis Vuitton has launched a new sustainable sneaker that gives tribute to its late designer Virgil Abroh, who was a key figure in driving the brand to sustainability. The trainers are made up of 90% of corn-based vegan leather and recycled materials including polyester and polyurethane. An LV monogram, designed by Abroh himself, and seen as a recycling logo, features on the shoes. Anything bearing this must contain at least 50 percent recycled or environmentally-certified raw materials. The shoes are made up of a corn-based plastic called Biopolioli which was used in Louis Vuitton’s first unisex sneakers the Charlie. The brand claimed that it had been a struggle to find innovative raw materials. Consumer demand stands at the forefront of the fashion company’s offerings. It has experimented with lab-grown fur too to produce a lasting solution for these problems.
