Luxury fashion brands are foraying into the metaverse and securing success

In the previous two years, the trend of entering the digital world, specifically the metaverse, has gained immense traction. With luxury fashion brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga, and Ralph Lauren entering metaverse platforms like Roblox and Fortnite by launching their digital clothing lines, the interest is gaining even more popularity. Last year, Gucci’s virtual Dionysus handbag was sold for around $4,115. Moreover, on Roblox, Gucci has been selling its items for around 475 Robux, which is the equivalent of $6 in real life. Balenciaga, on the other hand, has been selling skins on Fortnite, while Ralph Lauren launched a digital clothing line on Zepeto, a South Korean platform. With these purchases, it can be seen that people put just as much importance on virtual products as on physical ones.
