PETA’s Ashley Frohnert on vegan fashion and its relevance to sustainability

Ashley Frohnert, PETA’s Director of Social Media, spoke on the relevance of vegan fashion in the sustainability movement during Vegan Fashion Week in Los Angeles. From leather manufactured from food waste to down made from flowers, brands and designers are pushing fashion ahead. Animal-derived products such as leather, wool, fur, feathers, and exotic skins all contribute significantly to the climate disaster. Cow leather has a negative environmental effect that is roughly ten times that of non-animal leather. PETA has been working for decades, and they are still pushing corporations like Urban Outfitters Inc. to do better for animals and the environment by discontinuing the use of brutally acquired products.
