Reliance Brands, a subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures in India, and Balenciaga, a global luxury brand of ready-to-wear, accessories, and objets d’art, have reached a long-term agreement to introduce the latter to the Indian markets. Previously, Reliance had partnered with the parent group of Balenciaga, Kering, and with the Italian fashion brand, Maison Valentino, thus already having a repute of bringing global luxury brands to Indian luxury consumers. Knowing the strong standing of Balenciaga worldwide and the expectations of luxury consumers in India, the MD of Reliance Brands, Darshan Mehta sees it as “the most opportune time to introduce the brand to the country”.
