Safia Minney claims in a sustainability-based interview that “there is no fashion on a dead planet”

The original ethical thinker, Safia Minney, gave an interview at the launch of her latest book, discussing ways in which consumers can become more sustainable in their fashion. The book, titled “Regenerative Fashion,” discusses how the fashion industry can avert climate, ecological, and social collapse. According to her, people have realised the extent to which fashion has been harming the environment and are opting for secondhand and sustainable clothing. She warns people against greenwashing brands that deliberately try to dupe customers into believing they are environmentally friendly. Making the supply chain more transparent could help people avoid this problem. Minney created Fashion Declares to help people learn about low-impact materials, the circular economy, living wages, and fashion communication. She also recommends the Ethical Consumer website and the GoodOnYou App for this kind of information. One of her recommendations is that most ethical brands have GOTs, the Soil Association mark, and recyclable materials. The interview concluded with the claim that there would be no fashion on a dead planet.
