A report recently showed that the metaverse would have a $50.37 billion market value by 2026. It is no surprise that the fashion industry is trying to take advantage of the platform. Vogue Singapore recently launched a fashion-first Web3 community called “Vogue Singapore’s New World.” It is a surrealist-inspired realm featuring a welcome video from Lina Zhang. An AI-inspired fashion shoot called Bio RESONANCE by artist Terry Gates can also be experienced by users, along with digital couture by Yimeng Yu. The experience is created by Spatial.io and Polycount.io. People entering the New World will be able to create a custom avatar that can then be dressed in two Vogue-exclusive wearable creations. Visitors would be able to read the Vogue issue along with images. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is also launching an exhibition in December 2022 in The Sandbox. It will have a curated retrospective of the last 60 years of American fashion and commemorative NFTs for auction to benefit the CFDA Foundation. While some experts have predicted that this venture into the metaverse would change the fashion industry forever, others are more sceptical.
