Sheep Inc. introduces regenerative wool: A game-changer for carbon-negative fashion

Sheep Inc., a carbon-negative fashion brand, has created regenerative wool, which it claims can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the fashion industry, which is responsible for between 8% and 10% of global emissions. Regenerative wool farming, according to Sheep Inc. founders Edzard van der Wyck and Michael Wessely, uses livestock grazing in a way that replicates the way wild animals forage, minimising damage to grassland and allowing it to repair. Fertilisation from the sheep’s manure means synthetic fertilisers are largely unnecessary. Sheep Inc. is part of a small group of firms using regenerative practises, which are carbon-negative and could even absorb more carbon than is produced by farming. The company uses solar-powered knitting machines, has a plastic-free supply chain, and offers to mend and repair clothes to keep its environmental impact low.
